flawed and fabulous: Laurie Mapp
I’m a busy mom of three boys. With my first two children I took a year-long maternity leave (don’t hate me – I’m Canadian!) then went back to full-time work as a legal assistant/paralegal. After my third son, I decided to tackle being a work-at-home mom and so my virtual legal assistant practice was born. My house never gets really clean – but I have an excuse to be on my laptop or iPhone all day long now! I love and hate working for myself. I love being home for the school bus drop-off, but sometimes I get really tired of the noise level and having no adults to talk to, thank goodness for my blog and twitter! I stay up too late, and many mornings I need a Starbucks run (skinny vanilla latte if you’re heading that way…) to get me going.
I’m flawed:
In oh so many ways! My biggest flaw is probably my impatience though.
I’m fabulous:
At giving kisses better – lots of owies in a house with three little boys!
My words of wisdom for all the other Not-So-Supermoms out there:
Enjoy the kids, do what work you have to and hopefully enjoy, and don’t worry so much about the rest. You’ll never regret spending five more minutes reading to your kids, or playing Wii with them, and if you spend your time mopping it’ll just get dirty again right away anyway. Oh and take all the help you can get – from your spouse, your friends and your family!
I always appreciate your honesty in your writing! Great profile.
“Don’t hate me, I’m Canadian.” LOL! I know ALL about having a dirty house & the noise level while working from home, and I only have 2 boys.
I won’t hate you, I’ll just be really jealous! I love that you were able to start your own virtual legal assistant business. I would love to get the courage to start my own virtual business. I have a few ideas, but really need to take the time to make it work.
You’re so right about the cleaning. It’s a good thing my hubby is a neat freak, otherwise I’d probably be featured on Hoarders! Ha!
